for principals and deputy principals

See how support is running — without seeing the students.

Leadership needs to know whether the student support service is keeping up. It doesn’t need to read case notes. Descant’s oversight view answers the first question and never touches the second.

What the view shows

Referrals opened and episodes closed

Is demand rising, and is the team keeping up?

Open now and awaiting allocation

How many students are waiting for someone to pick them up?

Median wait to allocation

How long does a student wait between referral and support?

Median episode length

How long does support usually last?

Demand by support domain

Where is the pressure — wellbeing, learning, attendance, other areas?

Workload across the team

Who is carrying the caseload, and is it spread fairly?

Oversight of the system, not access to the records

The view is aggregate by construction: counts, medians and totals. No student name, year level or note is ever selected, so there is nothing to leak. Leaders get assurance; the support team keeps the records.

Questions leaders ask

Can a principal see individual students in this view?

No. The oversight view is built only from counts, medians and per-staff totals. It never shows a student’s name, year level or any note. Access to student records stays with the support team.

Who can see the oversight view?

It is a permission given deliberately to the people who oversee the support service, such as a principal or deputy. It does not widen anyone’s access to student records.

Can we choose the reporting period?

Yes. The view is reported over a window you choose, such as a term.

Is this the same as the NCCD return?

No. The oversight view is about how the support service is running. NCCD evidence stays on each student’s record, with the support team.
